The Swedish Number is an INGO initiative produced in partnership with the Swedish Tourist Association.

The Swedish Number gave Sweden as the first country its own phone number that the whole world could call. Everyone who lives in Sweden could answer. It worked like an ordinary phone call, but when someone dial the number, the call was connected to a random Swede – who in the name of free speech spoke for the whole of Sweden as candidly as they wished.

Some statistics:
Calls: 187,859
Swedish ambassadors: Over 25,000
Call durations: 367 days
Number of countries that called: 186
The last call came from Australia and lasted 46 minutes.
